Privacy

Short version. There is no backend. We don't run a user
database. Everything you do in String Time stays in your browser's
IndexedDB, on your device. If you clear your browser storage or use a
different browser, that data isn't recoverable unless you exported it.
What we store
- In your browser (IndexedDB): your practice sessions, timings, BPM, notes, custom chords, custom progressions, category choices, and preferences.
- In your browser (localStorage): small UI preferences such as the selected audio mode.
What we do NOT collect
- No accounts, no sign-in, no passwords.
- No analytics scripts, no tracking cookies, no advertising networks.
- No personal information (name, email, location, device IDs).
- No microphone, camera, or MIDI access.
Third parties
- The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare operates its CDN and processes basic request metadata (IP, user agent, request path) for abuse prevention. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Google receives the IP of visitors fetching the font files. See Google Fonts privacy.
Your controls
- Export — footer button downloads your entire browser-local data as a JSON file. Keep it as a backup.
- Import — footer button restores from a JSON backup. This replaces current data in this browser.
- Delete — clear site data for this domain in your browser settings. Everything is gone.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13. Because no account or personal information is collected, no COPPA-regulated data is processed. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising a child's use of the web generally.
Jurisdiction
Because the site collects no personal data, GDPR data-subject rights (access, rectification, deletion) are satisfied by your own control of your browser's storage.
